After a hospital stay, healing doesn’t always end when you’re discharged. That’s why Llano Regional Hospital offers a program commonly referred to as “swing bed” — for continued recovery that keeps you close to the people and places that matter most.
Instead of transferring to a facility located hours away, you can complete your recovery right here in Llano, with skilled nursing care, daily therapy, and ongoing medical support just steps from home. The swing bed program, authorized through a certification and approval by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, allows rural hospitals to use their existing inpatient beds for short-term recovery and rehabilitation. This means patients who receive complex care at larger hospitals in cities like San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Houston, or San Angelo can return home to complete their recovery in a local hospital—closer to family, support systems, and familiar surroundings.
Our goals are simple:
- Help patients regain strength, confidence, and independence in a setting that feels familiar and safe; and
- Relieve stress and pressure on family and other caregivers by enabling care close by.
Ask your discharge planner or provider if a swing bed stay at Llano Regional Hospital is right for you.
