Community Health Needs Assessment – Llano County

A Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) helps our hospital better understand the health needs of the people and communities we serve. Conducted at least every three years, the assessment brings together health data, community input, and local perspectives to identify significant health challenges, gaps in services, and opportunities to improve care.

The CHNA guides our efforts to prioritize resources, develop programs, strengthen community partnerships, and address the health needs that matter most to our patients and neighbors. It also helps ensure that our hospital’s services and community health initiatives remain responsive to the changing needs of the region.

The 2025 Llano County Community Health Needs Assessment provides a broad look at the health of people across the county and the everyday conditions that affect their well-being. The report combines health and population data with feedback from residents, community surveys, focus groups, and interviews with local leaders and service providers. Overall, the assessment is intended to help residents and community organizations identify priorities and work together on practical solutions that improve health across Llano County.

Here’s a few important facts:

• Llano County is growing and has a much older population than Texas overall, with 37% of residents age 65 or older. This creates important needs related to transportation, access to specialists, home care, mobility, and support for older adults.
• The report also identifies several groups that may face greater barriers to good health, including people with disabilities, youth, Hispanic residents, people experiencing homelessness, and residents in the Kingsland area.
• Access to care is one of the strongest concerns in our area. Many residents must travel outside the county for specialty or hospital services, while cost, insurance coverage, transportation, provider shortages, and limited appointment options can make medical, dental, preventive, and mental health care harder to obtain.

Health is shaped by more than medical care. Affordable housing, reliable transportation, healthy food, good jobs, education, safe places to exercise, clean water, social connection, and communication with local leaders all play a role.
